Woodland Walks
Buxton is blessed with many beautiful woods, nine of which are owned and managed by Buxton Civic Ascosiation. Pavillion Gardens
Just a 5 minute walk from The Lanterns, The Pavilion Gardens is a Grade II-listed, historic venue which superbly shows off the Victorian splendour of Buxton. Situated in the heart of the spa town, it is a beautiful example of the heritage that runs throughout the town. A venue that is truly a place for all the family to visit. The gardens feature lakes, flower beds, shaded walks and a bandstand. And for the young at heart, there is an extensive children’s play-park, adventure playground, outdoor gym, miniature railway and boating lake.

Cycling
The Peak District – ‘the outdoor capital of England’ – has literally hundreds of miles of mountain biking and cycling trails just waiting to be discovered and Buxton is the perfect base from which to explore. Pedal in the Peak, easy going cycling trails managed by the Peak District National Park Authority.
The Monsal Trail is a traffic free route for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and wheelchair users through some of the Peak District’s most spectacular limestone dales. The trail runs along the former Midland Railway line for 8.5 miles between Blackwell Mill in Clee Dale and Coombs Road in Bakewell. More information here. The Manifold Trail is 9 miles, Hulme End to Waterhouses near Leek along the disused Leek and Manifold Light Railway, through the Manifold and Hamps Valleys. The High Peak Trail is a17.5 mile linear route from Dowlow near Buxton to High Peak junction, Cromford along the old Cromford to Buxton railway line. Links up to the Tissington Trail at Parsley Hay.
